Callings

I am sure that there are very few people who read this blog, but I would love other people's opinions.  I was called as a Laurel adviser in my ward and love it, but it is a lot harder than I expected.  It takes up more time than I expected too.  I have been praying to love each girl also, but it is harder when they have attitude.  My husband was just called as an assistant ward clerk, specifically financial clerk.  What I want your opinions on is how you keep your family first?  We were both told that our family comes first, but with so many hours that are musts for these callings how do you do that?  Just been on my mind:)

Grateful for my Family!

I can't believe it has been two months since I posted, but honestly I completely forgot about my blogs.  Being a Mom has taken up the majority of my time and I have learned so much in the few months I have been one.  In the community I live in now I see and hear more complaining then I ever have in my life.  The citizen pages are littered with pessimistic comments everyday.  I find this odd because I have so much to be grateful for.  I am so grateful to have a family full of boys were there is relatively little drama.  I am grateful I have such good boys that watched all of General Conference!  They were amazing!!!  I even fell asleep during some of it and didn't make it to the Women's Conference.  Once again my testimony of Motherhood was strengthened by multiple talks.  I didn't have a favorite talk this time either, but liked most.  I have so much to be grateful for and nothing to complain about!!!

Decision

Wow, it has been months and months since I have written on this blog.  I wasn't lacking in spiritual experiences though, just extremely busy planning a wedding, moving, getting married and going on a honeymoon. Plus I have to get used to being an Insta-Mom. Recently I had one experience that I have to share.  I have been thinking about a question or decision that I was going to have to make by the end of the summer.  The time came where I had to make a final decision and had exhausted my resources in helping me make that decision.  I had asked people, prayed, gone to the temple, and study my scriptures with this in mind.  The morning that I had to make the decision I was fretting and was prompted to read my patriarchal blessing, which I hadn't done in months.  There was the answer, plain as day, right in front of me.  I knew what I was supposed to do and was reminded of important eternal truths also.  I am so thankful for my Heavenly Father in reminding me of my eternal goals and ultimate destination.  If I keep that in mind I know my choices will be a lot better in the long run.

Conference Spring 2014

I can't believe it has been so long since I have written.  It has been crazy since I got engaged and am inheriting a family.  I have paid more attention to anything about families and being a Mother.  Last October 2013 conference I missed half of it and really only got to pay attention to one session dealing with kids.  I get to listen or pay attention to more this time, but it is still hard with kiddo's.  I didn't have a favorite talk this time, but I always love to listen to Elder Eyring and Perry.  My favorite session was the Sunday afternoon one.  I just love how relaxed Conference makes me feel and gives me more faith to overcome things of the world.  Check it out:

FILL your life

Boy, I have been feeling this feeling for over a month now. What is this feeling you ask? People are more important than everything else!!!
Maybe I have felt lonely or neglected or maybe I am just noticing those around me more.  It started back in November when I was deciding what talk to use for my visiting teaching visit.  I usually have a favorite from Conference, but this year there were so many I liked.  Elder Scott's talk, "Personal strength through the Atonement of Jesus Christ" stood out to me.  If you want to read it you can do so here.  There was a part of his message that really stood out to me...

"Father in Heaven has provided us tools that help to build the fortifications between our vulnerabilities and our faithfulness (read the talk to see the tools)......."
"In each of these suggestions, there is a common theme: fill your life with service to others. As you lose your life in the service of Father in Heaven’s children,
Satan’s temptations lose power in your life."

What a novel concept!  There is just one issue.  Today people are selfish and so busy they just are not paying attention to others.  They are impatient, grumpy, stressed, lonely, etc...I am included in this group sometimes.
The line "As you lose your life in service..." specifically has influenced my life.  As I have dealt with personal trials in my life, EVERY TIME I lost myself in serving others my situation ALWAYS improved.  So as we lose our own life and fill it with service to others I can truly testify that we will not only be more powerful, as Elder Scott says, but you will be happier!

Knowledge

“Do not allow yourselves to be made to feel inadequate or frustrated because you cannot do everything others SEEM to be accomplishing. Only you and your Father in Heaven know your needs, strengths, and desires. Around this knowledge your personal course must be charted and your choices made.”
