Trials are for_____

"All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable...It is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire."-Orson F. Whitney

Even though I have been reading and listening to the Conference talks over and over again I guess they mean more to us at different phases in our lives. "More Than Conquerors through Him That Loved Us" was one of those talks I was flabbergasted by most recently. Elder Paul Johnson says.....

A pattern in the scriptures and in life shows that many times the darkest, most dangerous tests immediately precede remarkable events and tremendous growth.

In the midst of problems, it is nearly impossible to see that the coming blessings far outweigh the pain, humiliation, or heartbreak we may be experiencing at the same time.

We must be careful that we don't resent the very things that help us put on the divine nature. We can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us.

I love the words of Paul that he quotes, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?...Nay in all things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us." Romans 8:35, 37

So trials are for testing our faith, consecrating our lives, and education. Gotta love um;-)
